No. We do not use any masking agents* throughout our Fragrance-Free & Hypoallergenic collection.

*A masking agent is a specific chemical compound that is used to cover up the detection of other chemical ingredients. It can be used to disguise the unpleasant or unwanted odor of other chemical ingredients found in a product.

Although our Fragrance-Free & Hypoallergenic collection is formulated with no known allergens, in case of scalp sensitivities we always suggest it's best to consult with a Board-Certified Dermatologist first to understand what physiological factors are contributing to your condition.

Additionally, all of our products have undergone Product Allergen Test: Human Repeat Insult Patch Testing where they were applied multiple times to a patch of skin over the course of 3 weeks. Our product showed no potential for skin irritation or allergic contact sensitization. All test results were signed, sealed and delivered by a dermatologist.

We also recommend you try a patch test at home by applying product to a small, clean, and dry area of the skin to learn if your skin has any reaction to the product.

The SLS/SLES sulfate-free formula will not produce lather. You will need to use your fingertips to work the formula starting at your scalp then down through your curls on soaking wet hair —with your fingertips, scrub it in and scrub it out while rinsing. Your curls will not have a squeaky-clean feeling — which is perfect for curls because it means they are moisturized. Note that there will be no foaming to indicate cleansing like traditional shampoos.

We recommend focusing application on the mid-lengths through the ends which tend to be the driest areas. Your hands are your best tool to finger-detangle and work the formula through your curls when applying and rinsing.

This conditioner is formulated to be a rinse-off. If you are open to exploring a product with fragrance, and would like a leave-in option, we recommend trying Leave-In Decadence to quench dry curls and leave them nourished and soft with frizz control and shine.
