In addition to getting the most unflattering, bizarre haircut of my life this is not a true DevaCut. I've been to two other deva stylists. My usual wonderful deva stylist is on maternity leave, so made an appointment with Shawnna. It was a dry cut, but she didn't follow the DevaCut principles. A Deva cut should be curl by curl, more akin to trimming or shaping a bush than a traditional haircut. Shawnna instead pulled my hair out dry and then cutting at her fingers ( the traditional, non-Deva method of trimming). It was not remotely curl by curl and the result is a very bizarre shape and style that doesn't work at all with my curl pattern. She also thinned/ razored my hair. Another major NO for those who follow the curly girl method. And finally she used products with silicone and sulfates, claiming she had a new great curly line I could try. I said yes, but never imagined a level3 stylist would use silicone and sulfates on curls! This was more akin to a dry cut at a super cheap strip mall salon than it was to a DevaCut. My hair is destroyed and looks terrible. Do yourself a favor and find a stylist who actually follows the Deva and curly girl principles.

First time deva curl cut! Never had a dry cut in my life. Super interesting experience. Shawnna is great! Colored my hair and highlights too. Really knows her stuff. I e never seen my hair have spiral curls and it looks amazing.
