As a lifelong curly girl, I've had so many bad haircuts I've lost count. I've learned over the years (I'm 47) to ask very specific questions of anyone who says they can cut curly hair. I've ended up with mixed results. But since I read "Curly Girl" in 2005, I totally changed how I cared for my hair and became even more picky with my stylists. As silly as it sounds, I dreamed of getting a "Deva Cut" some day. I finally live near someone who is trained and I cannot say enough good things about Aubree. For the first time in my life, I feel like my curls are being appreciated by the person who is cutting them! She actually gets it! Although I'd been practicing most of the "curly girl" method for about a decade, it's so great to have someone else understand why I don't wash my hair every day without having to explain it! She also provides lots of great tips and when she recommends products, I feel it's because she really thinks I could benefit from them and not just because she's trying to sell me something. I have to drive 30 minutes to see Aubree and due to life getting busy, I tried to go to a local person for about a year. I thought I could work with her, but it just wasn't the right fit. So, now I'm back with Aubree. Good communication is essential in any kind of stylist/customer relationship, and that is still important. However, she knows the fundamentals of curly hair which puts her heads above the rest (pun intended).
