My hair was dry brushed to detangle and then was a poofy mess 🤦🏻♀️ I was new to curly girl method so didn’t want to say anything. She did cut strand by strand. But I left with 80s style huge hair. After I had said I hate volume and would rather have my waves lay flat. It scared me from deva cuts but I finally found another artist who did it correctly.

I have very thin, naturally curly hair. My daughters are bi-racial, and one has thin, soft hair with tight, spiral curls, and the other has thick, soft hair with tight spiral curls. I've been through sooooo many products!!! I couldn't tame the top of my hair for years, so I just pulled it back in a comb. This left the front part of my hair stringy compared to the rest of my curls. I went for the first appointment at Carolina Nail & Hair Spa, and found out that where I thought my hair was dry, it was not. It was just frizzy from some of the products & techniques I was using. I took my girls for an appointment as well, and they were taught about their hair types. Midge is very knowledgable and wasn't all about chopping a lot of hair off- which is something we've experienced over the years going to other salons. Since using DevaCurl products, I can wear my hair down, and the curl pattern has returned to the stringy part at the top of my head. Midge only cut what needed to be cut for my hair to continue to grow out without any drastic angles or unflattering layers. Also, I decided to color my hair, which is light brown color. I wanted darker hair with caramel highlights or blonde highlights. She foiled layers of dark color and left my natural color in between as the caramel highlights. Then she pulled a few pieces to color blonde from my natural hair, and I LOVE THE COLOR AND DIMENSION of my hair!!! Midge listens to what you want, tells you what her thoughts are, and then does what you choose. I really have appreciated the feedback from her on taking care of my curls and color! My girls love her, too!
