I debated for a long time on whether or not to leave a fair/honest review of my experience with Expressions Hair Studio. The last thing I want to do is hurt someone's business - but the reality is that I am left "waiting" months for my hair to grow out to a length where a new stylist can fix the horrible cut I received and so I suppose it is only fair to share my experience. I have fine wavy hair that I manage to coax decent curl out of with the right product, application and styling technique. I waited a very, very long time for this appointment due to the pandemic and it had been over a year since my last salon cut. Catie was very nice. She took the time to introduce herself to me and asked me questions about my hair and my goal for the cut. What I ended up with was not at all what we talked about. I went from shoulder-length hair to a modified bob that is barely to my chin (and I was NOT looking to give up that much length - just reshaping). There are pieces of hair in my crown that are no longer than 2-3 inches, surrounded by lengths of hair that are 5-6 inches in length. I have a "triangle" shape despite explaining that this was what I was struggling with and hoping to remedy with a cut. I also feel like I look like the "Mad Hatter" on a bad day - but his bad day is my every day. :( I went to see a different stylist for advice on how to fix this. I was told that it would be months of patience and growing out - because if they were to cut my hair to "fix" the crazy chopped up mess in my crown, I would end up with a pixie cut. I am beyond devastated by this experience. I would not recommend Catie as a stylist for a curly cut. At least not for someone with fine wavy hair like mine. Maybe she does well with super curly cuts. But my hair is a disaster and I am so disappointed. She gets two stars for being a kind person who was easy to talk to and welcoming. But the cut is a hard pass.
